Ismart Shankar is scripted and directed by Puri Jagannadh. The film is produced by Puri Jagannadh and Charmy Kaur under the banners Puri Connects and Puri Jagannadh Touring Talkies. Mani Sharma composed the music. Raj Thota cranked the camera and editing is by Junaid Siddiqui. The film has the star cast of Ram Pothineni, Nidhi Agarwal, Nabha Natesh, Satyadev Kancharana, Puneet Issar, Deepak Shetty, Sayaji Shinde, Ashish Vidyarthi, Tulasi Shivamani and Getup Srinu.

Plot

Ismart Shankar is a smart killer who kills people on a contract basis. When he murders a politician, who is in the high ranking, the police searches for him. Arun is in charge of the case. Shankar escapes from the cops along with his girlfriend, Chandini. But, Arun finds out that Shankar is just an arrow and investigates the person, who is behind the murder. His girlfriend Sarah is a neuroscientist, who supports him in the case. When Arun gets close to the culprit, he gets murdered. In a particular situation, Shankar gets transplanted with Arun’s brain. What’s next? Watch the film in theaters!

Star Performance

Ram had played his part well. Both the heroines are used for duet purposes. However, Nidhi gets a better role than Nabha. Ashish Vidyarthi has done his part well, as usual. Satyadev utilized his minimum screen time and brought out his best.

Analysis

This is a different attempt in Tollywood and Puri has done his part okayish. The characters are neatly portrayed. However, Ram’s character should have been better. Ram is a good selection and his body language suits the role well. The comedy scenes are not made as a separate track and as they gel with the script, they seem to be okayish. The first half is interesting than the second half, as the latter part is easily predictable. There are a lot of logical loopholes and the screenplay in the second half is unimpressive. The politics scenes don’t create any impact, as we have seen a lot of scenes similar to this.

What’s There?

  • New attempt with the transplantation
  • Ram’s stylish look

What’s Not There?

  • Logical loopholes spoil the film
  • The screenplay is slow in the second half

Verdict

Ismart Shankar is neither a super-duper movie nor the worst one. It could be watched once for its different treatment in the first half.
