Ravi Kumar is a Lyricist from India. He works in Telugu Cinema. He penned lyrics for more than 390 songs and has contributed to more than 125 films. He considerably worked with directors like Puri Jagannadh and music director Chakri and S.S. Thaman. He predominantly writes songs appealing to the masses. His genres include mass, melodies, and romance. He gained the credit and won two Santosham Film Awards in the year 2006 and 2008. He also received SIIMA Award in 2013. Ravi Kumar Bhaskarabhatla born on June 5, 1974, in Srikakulam, Andhra Pradesh, India. He was brought up in Rajahmundry among five siblings. He got passionate about literature and got the inspiration from his maternal Grandfather Aravelli Rajagopalacharya, in his early years of childhood. While he was in Rajamundry he used to visit Gouthami library and it influenced him to approach into poetry.

He got encouraged by looking at the movie posters. He attended his B.A. in Telugu and did a job as a film journalist in Eanadu, Hyderabad for over 10 years. Later he stepped out of his job to pursue a career in the film industry. Ravi Kumar got married to Lalitha, a B.Sc graduate from Warangal on August 13, 1998. They have two daughters Amanta and Samhita. Ravi Kumar first appeared as a Lyricist in the year 2000. The first film he worked in was of the director E.V.V. Satyanarayana called Goppinti Alludu, starring Nandamuri Balakrishna. He was spurred on to be a Lyricist by actor Tanikella Bharani and Composer Chakri. The first break he grabbed was in 2001 film, Puri Jagannadh directed, Itlu Sravani Subramanyam. The music of this movie was hit.

He worked for 15 movies with Puri Jagannadh and worked for 65 films with Chakri, the composer. Ravi Kumar and Chakri took the first step in their career together. Ravi also worked with other famous faces of directors, E.V.V. Satyanarayana, Harish Shankar, Trivikram Srinivas, etc. Some of his popular songs include Sravani Subramanyam, Bommanu Geesthe from Bommarillu, Malli Kuyave Guvva from Itlu, Gallo Thelinattunde from Jalsa, Pellenduke Ravanamma from Bumper Offer and Ippatikinka Naa Vayasu from Pokiri. Ravi Kumar victoriously secured a Film award by Santosham Film Award for his song in the year 2006. The song title was from the movie, “Bommarillu”. In 2008, he again won the same award for the movie, Neninthe. He again prevailed in SIIMA award for a song from the movie Businessman in the year 2013. The song was titled, “Sir Osthara”.

Vanamali is a famous Hyderabad based Telugu lyricist and poet. His proper name is Mani Gopal, famously recognized by his pen name Vanamali. He was born on 20th May 1967 in Railway Kodur; a municipality in Kadapa district in Andhra Pradesh and his mother tongue is Tamil. His very first composition as a lyricist was for a programme in Doordarshan which was sung by Vijaylakshmi Sarma. After this, his first project in Tollywood was for the movie Pithamagan directed by Bala in 2004. In 2007, he received the Nandi Awards as well as the Filmfare Awards for Best Lyricist in Telugu for his compositions, “Oh my Friend” and “Aerey” respectively in the movie Happy Days. In 2008, he worked with the director Anish Kuruvilla in the movie Avakai Biryani. In 2009, he wrote the lyrics of the song “Karige Loga” in the movie Arya 2 directed and written by Sukumar, for which he was nominated for a Filmfare Award for Best Lyricist (Telugu) in 2010. In 2010, he also worked alongside the famous music director Harris Jayraj in the movie Orange for which he was again nominated for a Filmfare Award in 2011 for the song “Nenu Nuvvantu.” He worked in KV Anand’s Blockbuster Ko, and Jayendra Panchapakesan directed 180, in 2011. In 2012, he wrote the songs: “Beautiful Girl” and “Amma Ani Kothaga” for the movie Life is Beautiful. He was nominated in 2012 in the South Indian International Movie Awards and for the Filmfare Awards for his work in Life is Beautiful, in 2013. He was nominated in 2014 for the Filmfare Award for his work in two movies, Vikram Kumar’s Manam and Chandoo Mondeti mystery thriller Karthikeya. His most recent work was in the 2017 film Fidaa directed by Shekhar Kammula for writing two songs. He has also worked closely with Music maestro A. R Rahman while working in the 2013 Tamil Crime Drama film Kadali. He has worked on many more movies alongside major music composers in the industry in both Tamil and Telugu languages. Before becoming a renowned lyricist in the Telugu movie industry, he went to Madras University holds a Ph.D. in Telegu Literature with high honors. This knowledge of Telugu literature enriches his work as a lyricist and songwriter. He also worked as a reporter for a Telugu film weekly while in Sitara and worked there for almost ten years. However, he soon found his passion in writing lyrics. He is an important part in the legacy of music in this country.
