Tabu Joins Puri Jagannadh’s Next

Puri Jagannadh’s next project gets a new lead.

According to the recent reports, Tabu is all set to join his ambitious project in a few days. The project is jointly bankrolled by Puri Jagannadh and actress turned producer Charmme Kaur under the banner Puri Connects, and has Vijay Sethupathi in the lead role.

Interestingly, this project will mark the return of Tabu to Tollywood after more than 5 years, her last film being Ala Vaikunthpurramloo, which starred Allu Arjun in the lead role, and was released the same day as Tanhaji, Chhapaak etc. Since then, Tabu has been busy with mostly Hindi movies, her last film being Auron mein Kahan Dum Tha, which was a commercial washout at the box office.

On the other hand, Puri Jagannadh is yearning for a box office hit since the last six years. He had even attempted to expand into Bollywood with LIGER, only to be heavily disappointed. Puri’s last directorial, Double iSmart, was a commercial washout, earning just 18 crores on a budget of 90 crores. Ironically, the film was a sequel to iSmart Shankar, Puri’s last commercial success as a director.
