Kasarla Shyam is an Indian music director, lyricist, and folk singer. He started his musical journey in 1984 after joining the Mantrala Mutthigadu Folk Dance during the Babala Academy’s Children’s Day event. He bagged the first prize for the song Warangal Shankar, which led him and his troupe to perform in different events.
His father, Madhusudhan Rao Madusudhan Rao is a very popular Tamil and Telugu >> Read More... , is a drama and film artist during those days. His mentor, Warangal Shankar, sings the songs he has written. Kasarla’s journey as a singer started in the 90’s and became a popular folk writer and singer in the Janapada Geyalu field.
This eventually led him to perform in Telugu in emphasized the Telangana style. He represents the A.P’s folk songs such as Janapada Geethaalu that focuses on social causes like AIDS, Girl Child, child labor, etc.Â
In 1995, he bagged the 2nd prize for the Janapada Geethalu of A.P. in Bhopal. He became a Janam Pata presenter on Zee 24-hours Telugu and penned the episode songs for Real Star Srihari’s Thamasoma Jyothirgamaya on TV5. Kala Sravanthi Sharjah invited him to perform as a folk singer in Ugadi 2008.
During those years, Kasarla started writing several songs for Telangana Jataras including Bonalu, Annaram Sharief, Komuravelli Mallanna, and many more. He turned out to be the personal folk singer of almost all leading recording companies like Geetha Recordings, DRC, SVC, etc.
His talent was extensively recognized most especially by top leading music companies like T-Series, Supreme, and Aditya and offered him projects such as  Mastugundi Pori, Maradalupilla.His artistic talents have emerged during the era of private audio and video albums.
During the year 2000’s, he attended the Potti Sriramulu Telugu University and completed M.Phil and M.A. From then, he already made an impact to the society especially in different election campaigns and singing has become the signature campaigning style for elections.
He then became one of the best in the market and many political parties have approached him to write and sing for their campaigns, which led to the making of many election campaign albums. These albums have helped the leaders to win the elections.
As of this time, Kasarla has evolved as a singer, writer, and music director and his talent was widely recognized by many film fraternities who also offered him to write songs in films like Chantigadu (2003). This was the beginning of his venture in the film industry.
He also penned and sang Nilapoori Gajula in Krishna Vamsi’s 2009 Telugu film, Mahatma. In 2012, he bagged the prestigious Santosham Film Award for the song, Kalalake Kanulochina, for Maruthi Dasari’s Telugu film, Bus Stop.
He has been in the top 5 best artists in 2013 after working in the songs, Kothagunna Haaye Nuvva for the horror comedy film, Prema Katha Chitram and Melamellaga for the romantic comedy film, Venkatadri Express.
Notable film actor, Real star Dr. Srihari, recognized his outstanding talent and encouraged him to write songs for his films that later became very popular. He was very thankful to the actor for encouraging him, which help Kasarla to be recognized in the filmdom.
He started to receive many offers and became inspired by Srihari’s good deeds. He adapted his kind nature and started helping young talents since then.
