Shenbaga Kottai is the dubbed version of the Malayalam film, ‘ Aadupuliyattam’ directed by Kannan Thamarakkulam. Kannan Thamarakkulam is well known to the Tamil audiences with his film ‘ Sooraiyadal’ and the super hit TV series, ‘ Maharani’ featuring ‘ Praveena’, ‘ Sujitha’, and Archana Suseelan. Shenbaga Kottai has ‘ Jayaram’, Ramya Krishnan, Sheelu Abraham, Sampath Raj, and Om Puri in the lead roles.

Plot:

Jayaram, who plays a real estate agent, wants to take possession of a palace in the nearby city. To own the property, he needs the help of Ramya Krishnan, who is a widow living with her daughter. Jayaram impresses Ramya and her daughter and marries Ramya. After marrying her, he buys the palace. When Ramya came to know that Jayaram married her only for the property, she takes her daughter to the palace and gets locked inside a room. Without knowing this, Jayaram locks the palace. What happened to Ramya and her daughter? What are the problems faced by Jayaram? The rest of the story reveals the secret.

Stars Performances:

Ramya Krishnan, the ‘ Baahubali’ Shivagami excels in her part, as usual. Jayaram has showcased a realistic performance in the film. Sampath has done his part without any flaws.

 Analysis:

The director has chosen a different story plot. But, the film moves very slow in the first half. The story gets into the right track only in the second half. After the interval, the director makes the audiences glued to their seats until the end. Ramya’s smart performance is the best part of the film.

What’s there?

Performance of Ramya, Jayaram and Sampath

Interesting screenplay

Good background score

What’s Not There?

Boring and draggy first half

Verdict:

Although the first half is slow, the director has made the fans to enjoy the second half with super excitement. Shenbaga Kottai is worth watching for once.
