Nithilan, the director of the film came to the limelight after winning the title Nalaya Iyakunar, a short film competition hosted by Kalaignar TV.
Plot
Sundaram is a loyalist of Ekamabaram. When everyone considered Sundaram as a curse, it was Ekambaram, who lent him a helping hand to survive. But, Ekambaram is a smuggler. Sundaram’s loyalty towards Ekambaram doesn’t go well with Kathir, the son of Sundaram. As a new task, Ekamabaram asks Sundaram to smuggle an idol worth Rs. 5 crore. He asks Sundaram to hand it over to a broker in Chennai. Sundaram delivers the idol in a monkey bag to Shekar, the broker. But, Shekar lies to Ekamabaram that Sundaram didn’t give it to him, so that he could loot it. At the same time, Sundaram’s son Kathir, chases a local thief who snatched the monkey bag from an old man. Kathir gets it from him but couldn’t find the old man. What happens next is interestingly told in Kurangu Bommai.
Star Performance
Bharathiraja and Kumaravel are the real heroes of the film. They had lived their roles. Bharathiraja’s body language and his dialogues make us think that we had missed an excellent performer, so far. On the other hand, Kumaravel is stunning with his villainy performance. We have seen Kumaravel as a soft guy in Azhagiya Theeye and

Analysis
Nithilan has designed the plot excellently. The star cast is excellent. He has a good future in Kollywood if he comes up with unique scripts like Kurangu Bommai. However, the film suffers a setback in the technical side.

Vidharth, who has been choosing different scripts like Aal, Kidayim Karunai Manu, has got time to cherish the success of Kurangu Bommai. Kurangu Bommai, the perfect crime thriller could be watched with the family.
