Kolanji’s father Appasamy is strict and had always wanted him to behave matured and limit his playfulness. This didn’t go well with Kolanji and he started hating his father, who scolds him and beats him often for his mistakes. Kolanji likes his uncle Gemini, who had always been kind to him. In a particular situation, Appasamy and his wife fight with each other and get separated. Kolanji goes with his mother. When Kolanji gets struck in trouble, he starts realizing his father’s strictness and the reason why he behaved with him. Will Appasamy join his wife? Will Kolanji admits his mistakes to his father and becomes an obedient son? Watch the film in theaters.
As usual, Samuthirakani is fantastic with the given role. Sanghavi makes her comeback with an excellent performance-oriented role. Kirubakaran, who plays Kolanji, impresses the audiences. Rajaji and Naina Sarwar are good with their roles. Nasath’s comedy works out decently.
The script is not new and we could see the traces of some films including Appa and some father-son sentimental films. The screenplay is okayish. The one-liners are quite good. But it is annoying to hear the same kind of comedy throughout the film. The casting team should be appreciated for the selection. Characterization is okayish. Music, cinematography and editing are good.
What’s Not There?
If we omit the negatives, then Kolanji is a good film to watch this weekend with family!
