Plot

Pakalum Paathiraavum starts with the police looking for Maoists hiding in the forests of Wayanad. The whole Wayanad village is threatened by Maoists. In this village, Vareed (Manoj KU) lives with his wife Maria (Seetha) and daughter Mercy (Rajisha Vijayan). The family is poor with a burden of loans. Mercy is extremely unhappy with her alcoholic father and mother, who supports him.

However, things become interesting when a stranger arrives at their house. Michael (Kunchako Boban), a nature photographer, stops in the village of Wayanad while traveling from Kochi to Mysore. His bike suddenly stops working, and he asks the family to stay at their house till the morning. Mercy agrees with it, and she starts to clean the room where Michael will stay. However, she discovers that Michael has a bag full of money and gold jewelry. Mercy also finds a gun later. She thinks that he is a Maoist or a criminal with illegal money.

Star Performance

Rajisha’s performance is the best compared to the other actors. She shows all the emotions perfectly. Manoj KU, famous for the film Thinkalazcha Nischayam, gave a superb performance in this film. He has received a lot of praise in his recent movie Iratta. Guru Somasundharam, who played the role of police officer Janaki Raman, gave a powerful performance. His dialogue delivery is excellent. His performance, especially in the ending, is outstanding. Kunchako Boban looks stunning in the character of Michael.

By the time the real climax begins in the second half, the film becomes dull for the viewers. There are many twists and turns, but they do not work well. The director has not used the necessary elements to create a powerful impact. The slow-motion pictures and loud background music in some scenes are irritating. The extra background music for each character is not impressive and seems unnecessary. The film also has some incomplete parts.
