Plot
Hari (Antony Varghese) is a young middle-class man who runs a juice shop with his friend Manu (Vineeth Vishwam). He lives in a village of Kannur. His sister Veena is in love with a boy named Kannan. Hari has sleeping issues, and for this, he consults a psychiatrist. However, his sleep issues worsen when a rooster comes into his neighborhood.
As the rooster grows, Hari’s life becomes more difficult. Hari’s family loves the rooster, but it disturbs him a lot during his sleep.

Star Performance
Antony Varghese looks fantastic in the character of a middle-class boy. The way he depicts his sleep issues is appealing to the viewers. His struggle with the rooster makes the film engaging. Director Vineeth Vasudevan also plays the character of Kannan. He does these two separate roles perfectly.
Akhila Bhargavan, who played the role of Veena, gave an outstanding performance. Her expressions are according to the situation. Her love story with Vineeth looks beautiful on the screen. Vineeth Vishwam shows all the characteristics of a good friend. His character is deeper and more complex as compared to the other cast. Sajin Cherukayil, who played the character of Benny, looks decent on screen. His dialogue delivery impresses the viewers.
Analysis
The film Poovan has three love stories running parallelly. The love story between Veena and Kannan is portrayed nicely, but the other two stories are weak and unattractive. It captures the ordinary happenings of the real life. The Chantakari song is fantastic. The film has an okayish music. The cinematographer perfectly captures the village roads, greenery, and village life.
However, despite an impressive storyline, the film fails due to many weaknesses. The execution is poor, and the characters of this film are not explored in depth. The film mainly focuses on the solution to Hari’s sleeplessness, but the way this problem is solved is unconvincing. Thus, Poovan fails to impress the viewers very much.
