Plot
Venu and Thankamani have a school-going daughter, Kingini. Venu has a well in front of his house, which he opened for his neighbors to fetch water. Venu works as a security guard. His daughter Kingini has an ear infection, so she can’t wear earrings. But she yearns to wear gold earrings. When her infection is cured, Venu decides to get her gold earrings. When he buys an earring for her, she just jumps and in utmost joy. But, soon, the earring brings unhappiness, too. What happened to them? The rest of the story deals with this.
Star Performance
Indrans excelled in his role as Venu, especially in emotional scenes. Remya Suresh’s chemistry with Indrans is neat. Unni did justice to the given role. However, it is Sivaani, the child actress, who overtook all the stars and attracted the audience with her innocent performance.
Analysis
The film starts on a simple note with some character introductions. After establishing the characters, the director starts revealing the core subject at a medium pace. The gossip made while fetching the water, the issues faced by Venu, and the kid’s wish to get a golden earring are neatly dealt with. However, the dialogue didn’t impress. A simple story is stretched too much to make it a feature film. The visuals are decent. The editor should have trimmed some scenes. The songs and the BGM are okay.

Though it has some slips in its writing, Kundala Puranam is a decent entertainer to watch with family!
