Plot
Virupaksha and Basavaraju are two conmen who are employed by an upright cop to bring his father back. However, when they enter the village of Nandikoluru, they face a bigger problem at hand? Can the two use their wits for a good cause?
Star Performances
If the film is entertaining and lovable, it is only because of the superb acting of the entire cast.
Dr. Shiva Rajkumar and Prabhu Deva deliver a surprisingly refreshing performance. So do the supporting cast, especially Rockline Venkatesh.
Analysis
A commercial potboiler, with Dr. Shiva Rajkumar and Prabhu Deva in the lead? Which moviebuff wouldn’t want that? This is why Yograj Bhat came up with ‘Karataka Damanaka’, an entertaining action comedy with a deep message.
The movie begins like a regular mass masala: two bad guys with a good heart are out on a mission. However, as the mission unfolds, the masses get to know that a stubborn father is not the only thing the two conmen have to sort out. On that note, the writers of this movie have delivered a fantastic performance.
After years, Prabhu Deva has returned to Sandalwood. For a rare moment, he proves that his brilliance is not just limited to acting. He is given solid support from Dr. Shiva Rajkumar, who is already on a high after delivering some memorable performances in films like ‘Jailer’ and ‘

’. The chemistry
The visuals are bright and vivid, just what a commercial potboiler needs. The supporting cast has done an equally impressive jobs. Even Nishvika Naidu and Priya Anand are not just reduced to insignificant roles. However, the standout performers are Rockline Venkatesh and Tanikella Bharani.
The only problem with this otherwise effective entertainer is its excessively long runtime. While 2 hours 36 minutes is not a very long time, the below average editing does make the viewers feel so.

‘Karataka Damanaka’ is the commercial entertainer with a unique message. This movie is not perfect. However, the performances in the movie more than make up for it. The chemistry between Dr. Shiva Rajkumar and Prabhu Deva is fantastic. If you’re a fan of classic masala films, you can try this!
