CAST & CREW
Welcome Back is sequel to Welcome (2007) which was a huge success due to leading pair
Akshay Kumar and
Katrina Kaif. Here in the current sequel comedy drama, Katrina and Akshay Kumar's goes missing and
John Abraham and
Shruti Haasan fills the gap. Rest of the star cast is same in both the flicks and the story is silly.
However, Anil Kapoor and Nana fits the role as two jokers. Uday Shetty( Nana ) and Manju Bhai( Anil Kapoor) are respectable hoteliers in Dubai and they eye a same girl Chandni( Ankita). In twisted circumstances, Uday and Manju discover that they have a sister Ranjana ( Shruti) and Ghungroo( Paresh Rawal) discovers he has a son Ajju( John Abraham).
When they want their sister to get married to John, they find out that he is Don in Mumbai. Soon both Uday and Manju try to break the marriage of John and Shruti and find that they are in deep love. Even two goons try to hire a blind don Wanted Bhai (Naseer) to knock out Ajju, but finds his own son in love with Ranjana. What happens then is the story?
The comedy sequence between Anil and Nana is the saving grace of the film. Shruti Haasan is bold in her looks and looks sexy. Dimple, Naseer and Paresh did their role convincingly. Screenplay does wonder in sketching the comedy sequence of two actors Nana and Anil. The story is nothing new.
Bollywood always takes a route to comedy with flawed script and Welcome Back is not an exceptional. The songs and music are huge let down. The climax of the movie makes you wonder what the director was really shooting at or the actors doing while filming it. The climax is biggest let down.
Technically the film is very sound except the tacky VFX. Cinematography by Kabir Lal is excellent. Production Design by Shailesh Mahadik is superb. Overall, it is a film which can keep you laughing for no reasons. Director Anees tries to keep the movie pacy with dialogues and interesting acting by stalwarts like Naseruddin Shah, Anil Kapoor and Nana Patekar.
