Star Performances

Bachchan is surely in his top form. His acting is highly impressive, and the body language and mannerisms that he exhibits does full justice to his role of his age. Nawazuddin Siddiqui, who is one of the finest actors of contemporary cinema, gives a nuanced performance with earnestness. As for Vidya Balan, she gives a convincing performance as usual though her role is a cameo. Analysis

Director Ribu Dasgupta is clear in his vision, and he has executed the film well. Kolkata has been showcased well in the movie and the knowledge of Indian society by the filmmaker is obvious.

One could empathize with the central character, Bachchan, for all his agonies and woes.
