Plot

The plot of the story revolves around Sherlock Gnomes who is a detective. He works with his assistant, Dr. Watson. The story shifts to a couple, named Gnomeo and Juliet. One day, they were away from their home, fighting over something. They receive a single saying that their garden got destroyed. When they arrive at the garden, they find out that everything and everyone is gone. Sherlock and Dr. Watson arrives at the scene. They tries to find the criminal. They find a clue card. Sherlock along with Gnomeo and Juliet goes to National History Museum. However, Sherlock refuses to go inside as he wants to see other clues first but Gnomeo went inside. There, he gets kidnapped.

Sherlock and Juliet follows the clue and comes across a lady, named Irene. She is Sherlock’s ex fiancée. She gives Juliet the clue. They find out the Gnomes are behind Tower Bridge. Moriarty is behind this kidnapping. Watson helped him, as Sherlock constantly mistreated him. So, he helped him by providing the location and map. Star performance

Sherlock Gnomes is the main character of the film. He is a famous detective who identifies the mastermind behind all the kidnappings. It is an animated film, so there are no real actors. The actors are used for voice-over. Johnny Depp played Sherlock’s character. He has shown Sherlock as a perfect detective who solves complex mysteries quickly. Johnny has done incredible acting on the set. He delivered a nuanced performance by balancing Sherlock’s emotions specifically, when his assistant betrayed him. Johnny’s voice became a major attraction in the film. Other important characters are Gnomeo and Juliet. The actors behind their voices are James McAvoy and Emily Blunt, respectively. They are the major highlight of the story. James and Emily has delivered good work but they could do better. Other supporting actors like Chiwetel Ejiofor, Stephen Merchant, Ozzy Osbourne, Mary J. Blige, Maggie Smith, Michael Caine, Ashley Jensen, Matt Lucas, and Jamie Demetriou have also delivered neutral performances.

Analysis

Sherlock Gnomes is a terrible film. There are many problems with it. The animations in the movie are the best part, but the rest of the elements are terrible. The script is too generic, plain, and simple. It makes the movie dull. Although, the title and the idea of the movie are great. The pace of the film is terrible. The scenes are rushed to other scenes, which makes dull. The execution of the film is disappointing. The movie’s script seems boring, as it has forcefully added scenes. The script of the movie is below average. The film is a total drama. There is nothing unique about it. Not only the script but the execution of the script is also not good.

The supporting actors like Maggie Smith, Michael Caine, Ashley Jensen, Ozzy Osbourne, Mary J. Blige and Jamie Demetriou have delivered neutral performances. The main cast of the movie, Johnny Depp who voiced over lead characters has done impressive work. The animations are good. The music used in the film is Sir Elton John's famous songs. The songs are good but they don’t fit in the script.

What's there?

  • The film is full of comedy and suspense.
  •  Leading actors, like Johnny Depp delivered impressive performances
