Plot
A young girl is sent to her uncle’s estate in Yorkshire when she was 10 year old after she gets orphan because of cholera outbreak. She starts a new life there in an isolated surroundings and explores unknown world of magic and fantasy.
Star’s performances
Dixie Egerickx plays effortlessly the role of Mary that makes us connect to the poor girl who wants to feel loved. Later on we see her connect with dog and her wish to explore the garden.
Julie Walters as Mrs. Medlock who is Lord Archibald Craven’s servant portrays a strict and firm lady.
Edan Hayhurst who plays bedridden son of Lord Craven and Amir Wilson as Dickon Martha's brother did a great job as supporting counterparts to Mary.
Rest of cast also plays a their part with precision.
Analysis
The film takes us in a refreshing world with Mary, Colin and Dickon. The film is suitable for kids and for adults too. It has a classic story and it will make us empathetic towards Mary and Colin similarly we feel content when magic of the movie starts to frame smile on faces of the characters. Kids acting is impactful in the film. 1947 era in the movie is bright yet gloomy but the story as goes on adds to it an excitement factor.
The joy of the film is powerful and engaging. Curiosity and excitement are adjectives for those who are looking forward to watch it.
