Phil was transferred to California for an ad campaign. His boss, Don Twombly, is bent on creating an awareness about the Bark organic dog food in all the Petco stores available in the country. The rendezvous for the discussion was at the dog park. From there, our protagonist meets a gorgeous rough collie dog named Jezebel (Fergie) and develops a crush on her. ) and few other dogs. To boost his strength and toughness among the other dogs in the dog park, Marmaduke asks Carlos to pretend that he is lost in the dog park and stage a dog fight that he would win.
Meanwhile, Mazie develops a crush on Marmaduke. After this episode, Phil conducts a dog surfing contest to get the attention of the Petco, which is obviously won by our protagonist, as expected. Though Bosco is an experienced dog-surfing champion, Marmaduke managed to win over him, which results to a fight between the two.
He takes Jezebel on a dream date. He throws a party at Winslow’s house while the family is away. Bosco crashed the party and reveals that the fight between Marmaduke and a cat at the dog park is not real, and hence, all his pedigree friends abandoned him. When Phil returns, he sees his house in a wreck and locked Marmaduke out of the house. Marmaduke runs into the woods and found an elderly English Mastiff dog, which has the reputation of killing his master. The dog asks Marmaduke to leave and return to his master while he still has one.  However, he gets lost.
Meanwhile, Phil and Mazie discover that Marmaduke is missing and scout for him. How Phil loses his assignment to save Marmaduke? How Mazie and Marmaduke fall into a sewer and to save them, what are the risks does Phil takes and how will he regain his job? What is the dog dancing all about? Please watch the movie and find out.
Analysis:
Clearly the movie is only for kids and not for adults. Though a commercial success, the movie fails to entertain the viewers. With the failed jokes and one-liners, the movie is bromidic and humorless.
Star Performances:
Owen Wilson failed utterly in providing a good voice-over and George Lopez’s performance is also not worth mentioning. There is no great captivating performance in this movie.
