Veteran Actor Samikannu Passes Away!

Samikannu, the veteran actor, who had acted in more than 400 films, passed away today. He was 95 years old. He will be cremated tomorrow at 4 PM. Samikannu is survived by two daughters and two sons. Right from his eighth age, Samikannu had been a theater artist. He made his silver screen debut in 1954 with the film, Pudhu Yugam. He was introduced by K S Gopala Krishnan. Samikannu worked with popular directors including Madhavan, “S P Muthuraman,” Mahendran, Rama Narayanan, Rajasekhar and “Rajkiran.” He has performed with Superstar “Rajinikanth” in Johnny, Mullum Malarum, Pokkiri Raja and Siva. He is also noted for his roles in Sakalakala Vallavan with Kamal Haasan, Vandi Chakkaram with “Sivakumar,” Uthiri Pookal, Pattikaada Pattanama, Paatum Bharathamum, Naan, Annakili, Urimaikural with “M G Ramachandran,” Mahaprabhu with Sarathkumar and En Raasavin Manasile with Rajkiran.
