The former IPS officer
Kiran Bedi
is the Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry.
The Congress
is the ruling party in Puducherry and the Governor Kiran Bedi appointed three people, Saminathan, Shankar and Selvaganapathy from BJP as the MLAs without consulting the ruling party. They took the oath at the Governor office and not in the assembly. Following this, the Congress MLA Lakshmi Narayanan filed a case in the Supreme Court against the appointment of MLAs by the Governor. Now, the Supreme Court released its verdict that the appointment of MLAs by the Governor is valid. The Apex court also stated that the Puducherry government need not intervene in the appointment of the MLAs.
