Following the GST announcement by the Central Government, Kamal stated that it might increase the circulation of black money and the video piracy. His latest statement is that if the Central Government didn’t get back the GST for cinema tickets, he has no other go than quitting the film industry. Kamal says that cinema is not gambling but an art. It is senseless to levy the tax to the Indian cinemas, equal to that of Hollywood. 28% taxation is too much and the government should reconsider it, said Kamal. Kamal also stated that he had seen various types of politicians, who had utilized cinema positively and negatively.
