Protest Against Hydrocarbon Extraction! Fasting Protest On 27th Feb In Pudhukottai!

Neduvasal in Pudhukottai has been chosen for the extraction of hydrocarbon and the central government has approved for this project. If this project starts, it would affect the fertility of the land and would make the ground water dry and create water scarcity. Already the farmers are dying out of the water shortage. If the ground water is completely sucked, we have to depend on the other states even for the basic needs. The hydrocarbon project is seen as a plan to make the TN agricultural land, a desert. So, the people in Neduvasal started the protest and they have planned for the fasting protest on 27th February. It is to be noted that the central government has given permission for a private company based in Karnataka to extract hydrocarbon. Yet another problem brought to TN by Karnataka!
