is going to be remade in Hindi, Telugu, and Kannada, Marathi and Bengali languages. The director says, "After Drishyam, Thani Oruvan is the first south film to get such nationwide attention. Puneet Rajkumar has evinced interest in remaking the film in Kannada, while actress Genelia (who had acted in Raja's Santhosh Subramaniyam) has told me that she wants to do a Marathi version. A leading production house is in talks for the Bengali rights."
