LYCA Productions, a film production company based in Sri Lanka has filed a defamation suit against Velmurugan, the founder of Tamizhaga Vazhvurimai Katchi. It states that Velmurugan had made a defamatory statement against LYCA, in his interview on TV Channel News 18. As the speech by Velmurugan in the program Kaalathin Kural Episode 141, hurt the feelings of the LYCA production, they filed a suit on him seeking Rs. 10 crores for defaming the production banner. The case is filed in Metropolitan Magistrate court, Saidapet, Chennai, informed the director of the productions, Neelakant Narayanpur. Velmurugan and
