are clashing with each other. The Tamil Nadu government reduced the entertainment tax of movies to about eight percent, and the theater ticket rates have been hiked. Including the entertainment tax and the GST tax, the ticket rates in multiplex theaters were increased to Rs 204 and a minimum rate of Rs 63 has been fixed. In AC theaters, the maximum ticket rate of Rs 136 has been fixed and a minimum of Rs 50 has been fixed. In theaters which do not have AC, there is a ticket rate of Rs 100 and a minimum ticket rate of Rs 38. Following the hike in the ticket rate, there have been restrictions imposed by the producer council on the theaters.
Theater proprietors head Abirami Ramanthan spoke regarding the restrictions levied on ticket rate of movies. He has said that the salary has to be given to theater employees. So, we have to conduct ourselves with justice. Actors hike their salary as per their whims and fancies. If we say that actors should receive a fixed amount as salary would they accept?
