Siddique can have a sigh of relief for now.
According to the recent reports, the actor has got an anticipatory bail from the Supreme Court, after the Kerala High Court had rejected it.
A few weeks ago, the Kerala govt. had made the findings of Justice Hema Committee report public. After the notorious MeToo scandal in 2018, this was the second time a portion of Indian cinema industry was under the scanner for sexual harassment. The report accused the Malayalam industry of making a select club of powerful artists, who called the shots, and made the lives of junior artists and female artists a living hell.
Siddique wasn’t spared as well, as he was accused of sexually assaulting and intimidating a junior actress during one of his film’s shootings. However, the actor strongly refused the allegations and filed a counter case of defamation against the actress. The matter is currently sub judice.
