SIT Drops All Cases Based On Justice Hema Committee As No Victim Gives Statement

Justice Hema Committee case files are closed unofficially.

According to the recent reports, the SIT has dropped all the 35 cases ongoing on the basis of Justice Hema Committee report. This decision was taken since none of the victims have turned out to register a statement.

After the MeToo scandal in 2018, the Justice Hema Committee report that came out last year shocked the entire Malayalam film industry. Things came to such a point that actor Mohanlal, who was leading the then AMMA, had to apologize over the issue and dissolve the committee, due to the presence of some of the accused. Actors like Siddique were also arrested for a brief while, before they were let out for lack of evidence.

This is not the first time Mollywood has faced such cases. Actor cum producer Dileep was previously accused of abducting and assaulting a fellow actress in 2017. The case is still ongoing in the court.
