“The Last Reel “from Cambodia was chosen to participate among the best foreign language movie at the 88th Academy Awards. The movie, “The Last Reel “is directed by Sotho Kulikar. It is said to be the one first feature film directed by a Cambodian woman. The movie narrates the story of a forgotten film, which was discovered under the Killing Fields by bringing out the truth in various angles. A teenager named Sophoun finds out an old film performed by her mother and offering her the opportunity to spell her own destiny. Ian Masters is the writer of the story and the story was shot in 2013 in Cambodia.
The Spirit of Asia Award was awarded to this movie, when it was screened at the Tokyo International Film Festival! The moviemaker Kulikar was the recipient of the Black Dragon Audience Award.
