India’s rich culture and heritage that makes every Indian proud to call it their motherland has always inspired the film industry to create and produce movies that reflect the struggles and achievements of extra-ordinarily men and movements that made it happen. 1. Jai Bolo Telangana
In 2011, N. Shankar, directed and produced “Jai Bolo Telangana” which explores the strife within the state of Andhra Pradesh through a typical love story between a boy belonging from ‘Telangana’ and a girl belonging from ‘Hyderabad.’ The movie looks into the historic events of the ‘Telangana Movement’ which began around 1948 in Andhra Pradesh by Telugu-speaking leaders for the formation of the new state, Telangana.
2. Bobbili Yuddham
“Bobbili Yuddham” is a historical Telugu film based on the famous epic battle between the army of Vizianagaram (Andhra Pradesh) and Bobbili in the year 1757. The main protagonist of the movie is the Army General, ‘Tandra Paparayudu,’ of Bobbili. This biopic dealt with the circumstances that led ‘Tandra Paparayudu’ to usurp the kingdom of Vizianagaram.
“Bhakta Kannappa” is a divine Telugu film which released in 1976. It was a rousing biopic based on the life of a God-fearing and pious man by the name of ‘KannappaNayanar’ who was a devout of Lord Shiva. ‘KannappaNayanar’ was a highly inspiring and respected man who became famous for committing his entire life for the sake of Lod Shiva.
“Nayakudu” was a Telugu-dubbed movie of the original Tamil film named, “Nayakan” which was a great success in 1988 featuring ‘Kamal Haasan.’ The movie revolves around a little boy who after witnessing his father’s murder, grows up to create his own criminal organization. The biopic was inspired by one of Bombay’s most notorious underworld king, ‘VaradarajanMudaliar.’
5. Raktha Charitra
Ram Gopal Varma, “Raktha Charitra” is a historical political thriller which was inspired by the true events surrounding the life of ‘Paritala Ravindra.’ This film was released both in Hindi as well as Telugu. The film deals with themes such of vengeance, politics and conflict of mind, and was also followed by a sequel.
