In 2009, Rajashekar turned as a director for the G. Srinivas Yadav-produced Bheebatsam. After a hiatus of nearly four years, Rajashekar worked on the romantic comedy, Mango. Rajashekar has also acted, and directed movies such as the Krishnudu-starrer Seenugadu, and yet to be released Ranam 2 and Mudra.

Amma Rajashekar was born and brought up in Chennai and his father is Silambam Arumugam, a martial art guru. He was born on 25^th May. Rajashekar went to JRK Matriculation Higher Secondary School in Chennai. Rajashekar is an eminent choreographer, who got trained under various leading choreographers, including Tara Master. Rajashekar had worked in a lot of reality dance shows as a judge. Rajashekar considers JD Chakravathi as his guru and felt proud to have directed him. Amma Rajashekar is married and has two children, a son and a daughter.
