In India, an average TV show runs for like a couple of years, and producers and makers of the show churn out as many episodes as they can in order to mint more money. The quality of the script is compromised on a cosmic level, and the show loses all logic by the end. Some Hindi TV shows did start on a good note giving a social message, but it all often goes in vain with one bad twist to stretch the show for more time. Below is the list of ten longest-running shows in the history of Indian cable that is still imprinted on the audience’s mind.

1. Tarak Mehta Ka Oolta Chashmah

Inspired from a weekly cartoon scribble “Duniya ne undha chasma” by Tarak Mehta for the Chitralekha magazine. This is the most popular Hindi comedy show and is a household name in the north of India. The characters are striking with excellent comic timing. The story is such that all the characters live in Gokuldham society. They hail from different corners of the country and have made a ‘Mini India’ in Goregaon, Mumbai. 2. Balika Vadhu

This Indian TV soap opera started on a good note spreading awareness and advocating that Child Marriage is rampant in our country. It is a crime. The daily soap went well for the first few years but then again, the continuous introduction of new characters irrelevant to the cause to extend the show made it a failure. The first season of the show ran for eight years, and at present, the makers have reintroduced the serial to the audience with a new cast.
