Initially they were against her acting, but that didn’t stop her from coming to Mumbai twelve years back. She has faced many obstacles in her career and though being talented she didn’t receive much recognition. She acted in various serials, played diverse roles and thrived real hard in making gaining recognition. Her role as “Amma ji” in the serial “Naa Aana Is Des Laado” that aired on Colors TV brought her fame and popularity. She portrayed a very prominent character who is the head of a village and no one can go against her.
She was seen riding a horse, beating up goons etc. This show mainly focused on atrocities a woman faces in a society, mainly in a village. In an interview with Times of India Newspaper, she says that people started treating her with so much reverence and looked up towards her with pride. Laughingly she also adds that she doesn’t want men to consider her as their mothers, as the role, which she played in Laado serial, was much more than her real age. She has also done other shows like “Har Ghar Kuch Kehta Hain”, “ Kitchen Champion”, “Yeh Hain Mumbai Meri Jaan” and a few more. After doing Laado, she said she wanted to play the role of a modern sophisticated woman. Well well, her dreams did come true. Currently she is seen as “Barkha” a posh stylish woman who lives in a magnificent house along with her family in the serial “ Gustakh Dil” that airs on Life OK channel.
Her role has many shades, and she is enjoying doing this character. She has also participated in a reality dance show “Jhalak Dikhla Jaa” season 6 along with the choreographer Savio. One of the judges
was at first shocked when Meghna performed on a song wearing heels. Madhuri said she imagined Meghna to be like “Amma ji”. Meghna reacts to such comments saying, she doesn’t get influenced by the roles she plays either good or bad. She feels such characters don’t exist in reality. After a few weeks she was eliminated from Jhalak because of low scores. Meghna is one of the few actresses who survived the television industry and is still doing great after almost 14 years.
