1. Anand Math (1952)

Anand Math is the oldest patriotic movie, based on a novel written by Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay in 1882. The movie is based on pre Independence time, when Battle of Buxar took place in which the right to collect tax was given to British Government. The main focus of the movie was on the conflict between the British government and sannyasis, when the britishers prevented the entry of sannyasis and fakirs into the province to collect their money.

She took help from many other freedom fighters also. Rani Laxmi Bai sacrificed her life at a very early age of 22 which motivates mostly the female population to be like her.

3. Jagriti (1956)

‘Jagriti,’ is one such film whose director once again took the step to show Indian freedom struggle on screen. The film shows how one can awaken the students towards the betterment of their motherland and sacrifice their life for the same. The movie motivates the young generation of the country.

Feudal system is the system of Zamindari, in which the zamindars were very rich but the farmers working in their field were very poor. Moreover the britishers used to charge tax from the farmers. This system was not totally abolishedafter Independence but later it came to an end after the opposition.

6. Haqeeqat (1964)

The movie showed the story of the recent past from its release i.e. 1962. The movie is based on the Sino-Indian war (war between India and China) of 1962. The struggle and sacrifice by the Soldiers for their country is depicted in the movie. The story of the movie helps the youth to know more about the Sino-Indo war and also motivates them to contribute their part towards the welfare of their motherland.

7. Shaheed (1965)

Shaheed, is a prominent patriotic movie based on the story of Bhagat Singh’s life. The movie depicts how Bhagat Singh continuously opposed and struggled against the British government ruling in India in those days. 8. Sikandar E Azam (1965)

Sikandar E Azam is the movie featuring the famous patriotic song ‘Jaha Daal Daal Par Sona- Mere Desh Ki Dharti’. The movie is based on the time when king Porus was ruling in India. The story is mainly about conflict, how a king battled with the enemy, got captured, but at last saved his motherland from the enemy. At last the king was captured by the enemy but he won the war through non-violence.

9. Upkar (1967)

The movie is all about the Indo-Pak war of 1965. The story of the film is of a guy who displays a sign of epic patriotism by fighting against Pakistan thus saving his motherland from evils. The story is of two brothers one of which was good and hardworking while the other was witty. The good one fought against Pakistan but the other was selfish and was busy in occupying the property. The common people at that time fought with Pakistan because of which we are living today in a free India.

10. Purab Paschim (1970)

Purab Paschim, an epic patriotic movie from the early 70s. The movie displayed the superiority of Indian culture over western culture. The movie depicts a story of a guy who loves his country, India and also helped in nation building by awakening people towards boycotting western culture and adopting Indian Culture.

11. Kranti (1981)

The story of Kranti displays the time between 1825-1875. The movie showed how one or two individual started a revolution against the British by multiplying their group and fighting against them till the end of their life. The movie also shows how the britishers use to take away the gold and precious stones from India to their country.

12. Border (1997)

Border as the name suggests boundary. The movie is based on the war between the countries across the borders i.e. India and Pakistan. The battle of Longewala is the main subject of the film. The film showed how the Border Security Force fought against the enemy country and saved their motherland. The Indian army has a great contribution towards the movie as they presented vehicles, weapons etc. while the filming of it.

13. Lagaan (2001)

Lagaan, the movie is about a village of India which faces a problem of drought. The villagers pleaded the britishers to incise their taxes but the britishers refused to do the same. As a result of which the villagers challenged a cricket match in which the villagers won and succeeded in achieving their demand.

14. Gadar (2001)

The movie is a love story of a sikh guy and a muslim girl. It is based on the time when the muslims started attacking sikh and hindus in Lahore. The film focussed on the struggle of the hindus and sikh to escape from Lahore and save their lives by returning to their motherland, India.

15. Veer Savarkar (2001)

This was the real life story of Veer Savarkar, the great freedom fighter who for his entire life struggled against the British. He supported the uprising by writing the book- first war of independence which was banned by the British empire. He also promoted revolution through bomb making and guerrilla warfare. He was the first president of Hindu Mahasabha. He was imprisoned where he died due to fasting.

16. The Legend Of Bhagat Singh (2002)

The film is wholly dedicated to the life of freedom fighter- Bhagat Singh. The full life history of Bhagat Singh is shown in the movie, from his birth to his death which includes his childhood, how he became a revolutionalist and his later life, how he fought against the britishers and was executed. The Britishers held the execution one day before the stated day of execution to avoid any public issues and later they were trying to hide the body of Bhagat Singh.

The movie displays a story of an Indian guy who resides abroad. His Patriotic feelings were awakened by watching the pity full condition of the Indian village he visited and started to help them for improving their condition. The guy resides in US but when he visits India he saw the poor condition of the villages after which he may have returned to US again but the love for his motherland made him stay there. This shows how a person lives in other country but his love for his motherland doesn’t ends.

18. Mangal Pandey (2005)

This is the story of a British-Indian Soldier. The story begins with a soldier who earlier saved the britishers in the anglo-afghan war but later when he came to know that the catridges of the weapons which they opened with their mouth were greased with animal fat. The struggle started from then when the soldier opposed this technique of opening the cartridges. He influenced the other soldiers also to join him which resulted into a rebellion. He fought against the britishers till the end, he was executed. That British-Indian soldier was the legendry freedom fighter – Mangal Pandey.

The movie is the biopic of the great freedom fighter Subhash Chandra Bose. He has a great contribution in the Independence. The movie showed how he escaped from the jail and how many people helped him on his way of escape. He then approached Adolf Hitler and with his help prepared a team of Nazi troops to fight against the British. He was the founder of Azad Hind Fauz. His famous saying to the countrymen was “Give Me Blood, I Will Give You Freedom.”
