The main purpose of Bollywood is to make movies which entertain the audience, irrespective of the money it earns. But nowadays, the trend is that every movie, and actor wants to set records based on the earnings of the movie. It has become a rat race amongst the celebs to be part of 100 Crore or 200 Crore clubs. The members of the industry have found out some techniques which would help them promote their movies, but some of these techniques have proven to be very much weird.
This was the movie starring
Shah Rukh Khan. To promote his movie, he declared that he would travel by train from Mumbai to Delhi. He explained the reason as he wanted to remember the days when he was young and traveled by train, but we all knew that it was a promotional stunt.
This was a great movie with a thriller plot in it. The movie was promoted by the industry as some employees shaved their heads off to support the Ghajini look by
Aamir Khan. This encouraged the youth to shave their heads and follow the trend.
3. Jism 2
This was the debut of
Sunny Leone who came to India after leaving the Adult movie industry. To promote the movie, the makers of the movie auctioned Sunny Leone’s garments, which she wore in the movie. This was quite disgraceful.
This was quite a psychotic movie which involved murders. So to promote the movie, the makers hung made up dead bodies from the hoarding and also made fake blood ooze out. This was a bizarre move done to promote the movie.
5. Jhootha He Sahi
The movie made
John Abraham the love guru. For promotional purposes, the makers mentioned a number on the poster so that the fans can contact John, and seek his advice on love issues. The number was picked up by a random guy, and who was not John. It was like fooling fans for promotion.
Chance Pe Dance
This movie involved
Shahid Kapoor and
Genelia DSouza, and Shahid disappeared from a car. So, to promote their movie the stars spent an entire night in a car. This made their fans go crazy.
This was another erotic horror movie which was promoted bizarrely. The public transports in Mumbai were having the quote “Ragini MMS Dekha Kya.” This way everyone read it, and it created quite a hype amongst the audience.
8. 2 States
This was a successful movie where
Alia Bhatt and
Arjun Kapoor were seen. To promote the movie, Alia Bhatt uploaded a fake engagement card having their role’s names on them. The card had dates of the release of the movie. It was smart but weird.
The actress of the movie
Sapna Pabbi joined a late night chat group with men to promote this erotic thriller. Knowing the level of the audience, the questions were filtered but this was something below the line.
10. Raaz 3
Bipasha Basu was again a part of erotic horror where she decided to promote the movie by giving away ‘Nimbu-Mirchi’ to the rickshaw wala's.
