She first appeared with her golden voice on television for the musical programme Popstars which was aired on Channel V in the year 2003. She won the show and along with other winners, created a musical group Asma. Under the auspicious guidance of , she also represented the team of Shankar’s Rockstars on the musical competitive show Music Ka Maha Muqabala. This show was aired on Star One in the year 2009. Since then, she is a regular member of A.R. Rehman live shows performing all over the world.

After winning the hearts of Indian television viewers and specially of those who love to see talented voice compete with each others on musical competitive shows on television this beautiful girl also acted in a Bollywood movie. Her debuted Bollywood movie was which was a project of Dharmendra Production. In this movie, she played a supporting role against her co-star Abhay Deol.

In the year 2012, she performed for MTV Unplugged and recently, she appeared on the comedy show with as a celebrity. She is now a successful playback singer for various Bollywood projects. There is a long list of popular music numbers under her belt and she has won a number of awards including the Filmfare RD Burman Award as best singer in the year 2013.
