Ekkadu Srinivasan Lakshmi Narasimhan was born on November 4, 1945, in Madras Presidency (Tamil Nadu). He is an Indian politician and former civil servant and belongs to the IPS cadre. He was the first Governor of the state of Telangana (2014 - 2019). He has also served as the First Secretary in the Moscow Embassy (1981 - 1984), Governor of Chhattisgarh (2007 - 2009), Andhra Pradesh (2009 - 2019), and as the Director of the Intelligence Bureau (2005 - 2006).
He is the longest-serving Governor, with twelve years under his umbrella. He played a very important role in the planning and formation of the state of Telangana. He earned his bachelor's in Physics from the University of Madras. Later, he went on to do his postgraduate in politics and law. After completing his education at the National Defense College, New Delhi, he went on to crack the toughest civil exam in the country and became an IPS officer. He is married to Vimala Narasimhan.
