Deepa Naidu is a professional Indian belly dancer and instructor. She was born in Bangalore, Karnataka, where she completed her schooling from Carmel High School. She enrolled for a pre-university course at the Sri Bhagawan Mahaveer Jain College, following which she graduated with a degree in Bachelor of Engineering (Electronics and Communication Engineering) from Reva Institute of Technology and Management. She developed a keen interest in dancing from a young age of seven. In 2011, she was introduced to belly dancing about which she soon became passionate. She quit her job as a software engineer at Tata Elxsi to pursue a career in belly dancing.
She trained in the art for two years after joining Payal’s Dance Academy in Mumbai, Maharashtra, and honed her skills in all forms of Oriental Dance, including sword, veil, finger cymbals, , Isis wings, Saidi cane, belly funk, bolly-belly fusion and drum-tabla. During that time, in 2013, she founded her own line of inexpensive fashion accessories under the brand name ‘Flaunt It’. Deepa became a part of Payal Gupta’s professional belly dancing troupe ‘Isadora’s Muse’. The crew stood runners-up at the Hipnosis Belly Dance Festival held in Bangalore in 2015 while Deepa bagged the first prize in the Duet Oriental category and the second prize in the Solo Oriental category. In August 2016, she founded the Deepa Naidu Belly Dance Academy, where she presides as its director. She was also recently invited as a guest performer on Colors Super’s family entertainment TV show “Majabharatha.
