C. H. Narayana Rao was a popular Telugu film actor, who was born in the year 1913 in Karnataka. He was an employee of Indian Railways. He had a love for acting. When he got the opportunity to act in the films, he resigned his job and started his new career, The Cinema. Jeevana Jothi was his debut movie, which got released in the year 1940. Narayana Rao was introduced to the Telugu cinema industry by Dronamraju Kameswara Rao. C. H. Narayana Rao, not only performed as a hero, but also as a villain and as a character artist. He has acted in nearly fifty films, as a hero.
He was in the Telugu industry during the period of Chitoor V. Nagaiah. During his period as a hero, Nagaiah started to approach more supporting roles, than the lead roles. His top heroines are
, S. Varalakshmi, Bezawada Rajalakshmi and Krishna Veni. These ladies were the topmost heroines during the 50s. C. H. Narayana Rao got fame through Mana Desam, Devatha, Tahsildhar, Manjari, Swarga Seema, Chenchu Lakshmi and Jeevitham. He was also a producer and produced his own movie named Manjari. Though those two celebrities were praised by the audiences, C. H. Narayana Rao did not lose his originality. He continued his competition with them and moved successfully. C. H. Narayana Rao has also acted in historical movies and religious movies. He has acted as Vishnu in the movie Chenchu Lakshmi and Kamala Kotnis acted as Lakshmi. After few years, this movie Chenchu Lakshmi was remade with Akkineni Nageswara Rao as the hero and
as the heroine. Rahashyam, which released in 1967, was his last movie. C. H. Narayana Rao completed his life journey in Chennai in the year 1984.
