Mahabhashyam Chittaranjan is a Telugu lyricist by profession who works in the South Indian cinema. He was born on 25 August 1938. She played instruments such as harmonium, Veena, and violin. Mahabhashyam was the eldest among his siblings. His first trainer in music was his mother as he grew up listening to her songs and repeating after her. Later, he started taking professional training in this field. He was first taught by Sri.

Putcha Subba Rao guru who was the father of one of the most popular music composers Sri. P. V. Sai Baba. After this, he started taking training from Padma Vibhushan Dr. Mangalampally Balamurali Krishna, and for few years, he accompanied him in his music concerts. When he was just eight years old, he started singing for the radio station called “Deccan Radio” which was under the Nizam government. He did the playback singing for the voice of a female too. In 1971, he joined the All Indian Radio and sung many songs on it. His music career in the field of singing and composing was for around six decades. Before joining his job, he had an experience of working with the famous music directors of the Telugu film industry such as Master Venu and Vidhi Vilasam. With Vidhi Vilasam, he worked as an associate music director.

He was honored with the title of “Doctorate of Philosophy” from a university named “International University of Complementary Medicine” which is situated in Sri Lanka. He also got the “Kalaratna” title in 2008 from the Andhra Pradesh government. He composed the 701 Shlokas of Bhagavadgita and 28 shlokas of Gitamahatmyam and was the first person to do that. He composed them in 1984 in both Carnatic and Hindu styles. He is also the first and the only musician of Indian to have made a “two-year diploma course for light music” in India. His course got the approval from the “Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University” situated in Hyderabad. He has worked in many Telugu films such as Mana Mahamusu in 1977, Awarna Gowri in 1961, Kula Daivam in 1960, and in many film documentaries also like Rendu Puvvulu. He retired from this industry in 1997.
