Renganaath Ravee

Born in the quaint seaport town of Kochi, Kerela, Renganaath Ravee is an Indian sound designer and sound editor who has worked on more than eighty films. Even though he currently resides in Mumbai, where he follows his occupation, he did his schooling in Kerala. He had no formal education in any sort of film school, however, and thus realized that he had a passion for art after his college years faded away. In 2005-2006, he started his career as a sound recorder at K. J. Yesudas Tharangini Records Studios after which he moved to Bollywood in 2006 to find a larger amount of exposure for his works. Ravee has been a master at the art of manipulating sound for various different films. Moreover, apart from films, he has also worked on sound effects and soundtracks for various different media, such as short films, advertisements, documentaries, and installations. When he initially moved to Mumbai, Renganaath Ravee hit a stroke of luck and immediately set to work with maestros like Vivek Sachidanand, DwarakWarrier, and the academy award winner, Resul Pookutty. This good fortune helped Ravee frame his work ethics and styles in a systematic and clever method. It was still a long way to go for the young sound designer though, because his first debut made it to the big screen only in the year 2010, for a Malayalam film titles Nayakan. This movie was directed by Lijo Jose Pelliserry and had one of the best soundtracks that Mollywood cinemas had ever heard. These successes were not in vain – in 2015, Ravee won the Kerala State Film Awards for Best Sound Designer for his contribution the film Ennu Ninte Moideen. Recently, he won a second round of the same award for the 2017 version due to his exquisite workmanship with the soundtrack of the movie Ee.Ma.Yau. His talents do not stop here; Ravee was also a great poet and won many awards for his flair and expertise in poetry installations, one being an honorable mention in the Limca Book of Records for the innovative technique of creating poetry. Due to his extensive linguistic anomaly, Ravee has also interpreted and translated many poetic works of poets across the country. He is a man of many talents and will continue to grow into a harbored pride for Mollywood and all other cinemas that are lucky enough to have him.
