Aruna Sairam (also spelled Sayeeram) is a well-known Carnatic singer and Indian classical vocalist. She served on the chairman's board of the "Indian Premier National Institution of Music and Dance." She is also the Vice-Chairman of the "Sangeet Natak Academy." Aruna was born on October 30, 1952, in Bombay, Maharashtra, India, and was the first Carnatic performer to stage at the "BBC proms" in London and the "Oud Festival" in Israel (Jerusalem). She received music lessons from her mother, Rajalakshmi Sethuraman, a student of the Alathur Brothers, and Thanjavoor Sankara Iyer. Shri Sethuraman, her father, was a music lover who entertained musicians and dancers at his home. At one of these meetings, Aruna met Sangita Kalanidhi Smt T Brinda, who taught her the" Veena Dhanammal" style.
She acquired training and advice from a variety of professionals throughout her musical career. Despite the training, she felt the need for vocal guidance to express her creativity through her voice. Eugene Rabine, a German voice maestro, assisted her in discovering and applying a new sound to her vocals. She had one of the greatest voices in the present generation as a music ambassador of India. Aruna has a natural talent for music as a child. She earned her first gold medal at a competition in Mumbai when she was eight years old. At the age of 14, she performed her first full-length solo concert at a local festival. She became well-known after winning the "Best Young Musician Award" at the Music Academy's annual conference in Chennai, Tamil Nadu when she was 21.
Aruna performed Carnatic music throughout the years in a pure classical style, drawing on influences from Mumbai. She was primarily influenced by Western, Hindustani, and North Indian music. Her approach to concerts was novel. She pushed the boundaries of Carnatic musicality while adhering to classical grammar and tradition. She had the opportunity to perform at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, the President's official residence. Furthermore, she also served at the Indira and Rajiv Gandhi memorials at Vir Bhoomi. "Music Academy in Chennai, Siri Fort Auditorium in Delhi, and the National Centre of Performing Arts in Mumbai, among others, observed Aruna's performance.
