Dinesh Nair is an
ndian casting director and production manager who introduced the world to Andria D’Souza in the English erotic drama “Kamasutra 3D” (2013). Screened at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival, it is the only Indian movie with five songs to be nominated for an Oscar for the Original Song category.
It was also nominated for the Best Motion Picture and the Original Score titles at the 86th Academy Awards of 2013. Dinesh initially owned a car resale business in Mumbai, Maharashtra, where he would often meet renowned celebrities (including megastar Rajinikanth) who required ostentatious cars for their movies.
Thereon, he gradually shifted his focus on casting and production in films. His first undertaking was as the production manager in the S. Shankar’s super hit sci-fi “
” (2010). Starting his career with such a magnum opus soon made Dinesh a popular choice for casting and production of numerous ace directors.
What followed was a plethora of movies that Dinesh contributed to, more than twenty-five of them being released within three years after Enthiran. Nair has had the fortune of working with some of the most dexterous artists in some of the best movies of the film industry.
Be it casting
in S. Shankar’s thriller-drama “I” (2015) or assisting
with the production of “
” (2012), Dinesh has left his mark everywhere.
He was also a key asset in casting
for and managing the production of “
” (2014), India’s first photorealistic motion capture film wherein the celebrities were depicted by their respective characters, designed to look like them. In 2016, Dinesh founded his production house called DM 17Stone Productions.
Other notable works that his CV boasts of, are “1947: Aug 14” (2012), “
” (2012), “Roaring Silence” (2013), “Kharam” (2017) and “2.0” (2018). In his latest project, he managed the production of Balaji Mohan’s action-comedy “
” (2018), starring Dhanush.
