(1978). He entered the Tamil Film industry in 1961 and started his career working as an assistant director under the late director Mukhta V. Srinivasan. He switched to working as an executive producer for a brief period before launching his production banner. His first ever work as a producer was the highly acclaimed Tamil drama-film Oru Veedu Oru Ulagam, released in 1978.
This film received the Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Director. Other films produced by Muthuraman include Mayil (1981), Deiveeenga Rangangal (1980), and Raja Mariyathai (1987), among many others. The legend took his last breath aged 83, in Chennai, due to natural causes.
