Born in the pre-independence era in the year 1912, C. N. Pandurangan was a well-known music director who worked in the Indian film industry. Full name of C. N. Pandurangan was Mr. Cuddalore Nagarathinam Pandurangan. He predominantly worked in the South Indian film industry. His work includes directing music for films in Tamil, Kannada, Telugu, and Sinhala. Father of Mr. C N. Pandurangan was a government employee and an exponent of Harikatha. He learned his lessons under his father and performed with him on stage. He was also trained under Mr. Chittoor Subramaniam Pillai. Later, he also accompanied Mr. Chittor Subramaniam Pillai in his compositions. His first job as a music composer was on the movie named Kapati Arakshakaya, in 1948.
After that he worked on couple more Sinhalese movies. Kamavalli in 1948, was his first Tamil movie as a music composer. He composed music for the lyricists like Mr. Papnasam Sivan. Altogether he has worked on more than 50 films in his career as a music composer.
