Abhijith Paul

Abhijith Paul is a South Indian actor who has worked in Tamil and Malayalam film industries. He is also a merchant navy officer. He was born on 6th May in Aluva in the Ernakulam district of Kerala. He is most well known for his negative role in Devi (L). Born to a Syro-Malabar family, Abhijith is the son of Paul Verghese and Annice Paul. He is the elder brother of the famous South Indian actress, Amala Paul. He supported Amala’s career choice when their father opposed it. He was brought up in the Aluva township of Kochin. After passing fout from his high school, he joined the merchant navy. He trained in the United States of America and Israel. After completing his training, he joined an American company and earned a licence in dynamic positioning and became India’s youngest Dynamic Positioning Officer. One of his missions as an officer involved him participating in the search for the Malaysian Airlines Flight 370 that went missing over the South China Sea with two hundred and thirty nine people on 8th March 2014. Despite entering the film industry, Abhijith did not retire from the navy as his contract allows him to go back on duty whenever he chooses to do so. Abhijith made his acting career debut with a guest appearance in his sister’s Malayalam romantic comedy movie Oru Indian Pranayakadha directed by Sathyan Anthikad. The film hit the screens on 20th December 2013. He also acted in Amala’s Malayalam action movie Laila O Laila directed by Joshiy. In the film he played the role of an officer. The film hit the screens on 14th May 2015. Abhijth’s great breakthrough came with the trilingual horror comedy film Devi starring Sonu Sood, Prabhudeva and Tamannaah Bhatia. The film was directed by A. L. Vijay, who was Amala’s husband until their divorce in February 2017. In the movie, Abhijith plays the lead antagonist Vikki, who is the spoilt son of the producer and attempts to make his moves on the lead actress. Amala trained Abhijith for the role. The film is also known as Devi (L), Abhinetri in the Telugu version and Tutak Tutak Tutiya in the Hindi version. The movie hit the screens on 7th October 2016. His latest acting projects are the Malayalam horror film Thaami directed by B. Praveen Kumar and an untitled romance movie directed by debutant director Selvam. He plays lead roles in both. He appeared in a dub smash video with Amala.
