This is the second venture of the Director Kaadhal Sugumar, where the first one was Thiruttu, a debut, but the comic timing and direction at the cinema didn't end up well. While this time, the director understood the circumstances very well, hence fetched the script with a purpose of sharpness, and relevancy in the screenplay. Also, the casts of the film molded better this time.Arun Balaji, Leena Babu, Yuvarani and Bala Singh appeared as the leading cast, delivering the character sincerely.

Plot: The movie Summave Aaduvom Click to look into! >> Read More... rolls around the oldest form of folk dance Koothu, which is almost fading. The flick emerges the affinity of the maestros, who are passionate about the dance, the struggle to secure their property, the piece of land which belongs to them legally, as it was allotted decades back by a gracious landowner (zamindar). The plot of the movie scantly reminds of the Bollywood film 'Lagaan,' which is also based on similar issues, also beating the oppressive in their own game.

Some of the elder members of the company are rude, while the younger ones are ignorant and moved forward in their lives. The youngster ringleader and protagonist Karnan (Arun Balaji) is the Hero among the youngster, who owns a patty shop. The character of Karnan is generous, who helps his friends in the time of Dilemma, like he sold his shop, which was his only source of his daily bread, to help one of his allies. The Zamindar's son Arjun too is quite favorite among youngsters, who works in films.

It is later found that Karnan and Arjun were step brothers, which only Zamindar and his astrologer knows. The Director here gave a historical touch, as film shares some scenes related to the past. In the flashback twenty years ago, Zamindar had to copulate with another woman, to bear a child of his own, which Zamindar cohabits. An astrologer has already predicted this incident. A folk artist offered herself to Zamindar, as she heard the conversation. In another scene, Zamindar's first wife also subsequently bears a child, both getting their sons. While another incident of the movie, also unfolds about the prediction about the two newborns getting swapped during their birth shortly.

There is a point in the flick where Arjun insults Karnan and his gang, while there was huge altercation among them for the land. Arjun imposed a challenge, that, if Karnan and his friends can make a movie complete in a month, Karnan will own the property, else they would be expelled. The rest of the flick is about the fallout between Karnan and Arjun, the two stepbrothers, where Karnan and his team has clutter to execute the challenge.

Star Performances: Arun Balaji served the role of Karnan with a mild intensity of the amusement. Also, Leema Babu, Bala Singh, and Yuvarani has a substantial role. The majority of the cast of the movie are freshers. Hence they were pretty inexpert, though the chemistry between the characters is admirable.

What's there? Though the plot and the script being slightly similar to that of Lagaan (2001), it was enough to serve a just relevance among the viewers. Moreover, the characters were fetched distinctly according to the scenes. The screenplay and direction were marvelous, the scenes were remarkable, while the crews and the camera work seem to make appropriate efforts in the film. Summave Aaduvom has a mild comedy and bit more of drama, which makes the movie a 'must watch'. The dubbing and technical section also purportedly presented with great tactics, where dubbing is delivered with a marvelous comic timing at certain scenes.

What's not there? Summave Aaduvom did great in the cinema, but in spite of this, most of the scenes in the movie are mildly amusing, which could have been far better with a slight more beauty put in the scenes. Cinematography, as in the first venture of the movie is seen to be consistent in the second venture too, which was not satisfactory, though. Summave Aaduvom is not much deviated at certain points from its first venture, as some of the scenes were pretty much predictable. Music direction of the movie could be far better, as it is not analogous to the plot and the scenes.

Verdict: If you pursue a film, which is both drama and comedy, while suspenseful simultaneously, then this movie is a "Got to watch," else, more or less is predictable.
