Girija Raghavan is an Indian writer, journalist, entrepreneur, and media personality. She was born in Chennai to her parents, Natraj Raghavan and Kamala Raghavan. She repurposed that passion for media into a career and became an announcer and News Reader for All India Radio. Girija also worked at Madras Doordarshan as a presenter, News Reader, and announcer. She further employed her creative side to becoming a writer of magazines and periodicals and became a freelance reporter. Whilst she was involved in media, she also worked a job in a Nationalized Bank, which she quit in 1991.

After making the tough decision of leaving her job, Girija started her own company and became an entrepreneur in 1993. The company, which was named “Gayathri Cassettes” was involved in the production of audio cassettes. Girija was engaged in the making of various T.V. programs and decided to open her production under the label “Gayathri Creations” in 1995. Her programmes are made with the goal of shedding light upon the importance of women’s empowerment. Now, with the number of her audience proliferating through her programs, Girija gathered a lot of female supporters. Being an advocate for female empowerment, she started a Tamil Monthly Magazine in 1997 called “Ladies Special” of which she is the Editor and Publisher.

This magazine was trendy and had readers from around the world. Since 1997, Girija has been focused on women empowerment and development and founded an organisation named BRAWE (Bussiness Related Advice for Women Entrepreneurs) through which she wanted to upscale women and help them pursue entrepreneurship and also helped them market their products. She has created more than 25000 women entrepreneurs with her guidance, support, mentorship, and consummate business acumen.
