Vaishnavi Sundar is an actor, activist, independent filmmaker working in Chennai, Tamil Nadu in India. She has mainly worked in theater, documentary filmmaking, and Tamil Cinema. She is popular for her work in activism and cinema. Her most popular films were screened and played in many International and Indian festivals. Some of these are The Catalyst and Unearthing, Pava, The Treasures of Ariyalur, etc. she owns a production company named “Lime Soda Films.”

All her films are directed under this production company only. She was born in Avadi on 8th of June in the year 1986. Avadi is a suburb area in Tamil Nadu, India. In Avadi only, Vaishnavi completed her schooling. Later on, she moved to Chennai to complete her degree of B.COM (Bachelor in Commerce) from Ethiraj College for Women which is situated in Chennai. She was passionate about theater from a very young age. So, to nurture this passion, she joined “Theater Nisha” which is a Centre of drama based in Chennai. Then, she started writing plays and directing as well. At Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Glasgow, Vaishnavi attended the “The Actor’s Voice” hosted by Bill Wright.

She has also attended a Workshop of Anitha Santhanam who has completed her graduation from London International School of Performing Arts. For around seven years, Vaishnavi has also done many plays like The Red Queens of the Black Night, The Pregnant King, The Particle Collider, Siri Sampige, and Fire and the Rain, etc. For her role in the movie named “The Particle Collider,” she has won the Best Actress Award. After that, she has also directed many plays like The Lilac Ticket, To Write my Epitaph, Chitrangada, and A Beautiful Mind. She has also performed in many festivals like Rangashankara’s Sampriti Festival, and Soorya Festival. She has also worked as a voice artist and has given her voice in many Children TV series like Perman, Ninja Hatori Ninja Hattori is a famous animated show which airs >> Read More... , and many more cartoons which were telecast on various cartoon channels.

She has also given her voice in “Tidal Wave” which is a Korean feature film released in the year 2009. In a Malayalam movie named “Marupudi,” Vaishnavi has played the role of a cop, directed by “V.M. Vinu.” Apart from thus, she has also worked as a filmmaker and has started her career in filmmaking in the year 2014. She has directed many films like Pava, The Catalyst, and Unearthing, etc. She and her films have also won and selected for many Awards. Her movie named “The Treasures of Ariyalur” was officially selected at the International Festival of Women Filmmakers held at Gauhati in the year 2016. Her movie named “The Catalyst and Unearthing” also got selected at International Short Film Festival held in Bangalore in the year 2015. “Pava” was also selected at International Documentary and Short Film Festival held at Kerala, Trivandrum in the year 2014. It was also selected at Bangalore International Short Film Festival held in the year 2014.
