Cheyyar Ravi, born in 1962 in Vadamanapakkam Village, Cheyyar, Thiruvannamalai District, Tamil Nadu, was an Indian film and television director who has most of his work published in the Tamil and Sinhalese Entertainment Industries. He rose to film direction in the 90s with two notable films which are, Dharma Seelan, starring Prabhu and Khushbu in the lead roles, which was released on 16th July 1993; the other film, a Comedy film, Harichandra, starring Prabhu and Meena in the lead roles, was released on 15th May 1998. He was well-known to prioritize his role as the director of television serials over films and entertainment.

Most of his television serials were produced by Sathya Jyothi films such as Gopuram, which was started in 2000 and lasted till 2002, Panam in 2003, Anandhanam in 2003, which lasted till 2009, Soruthihudu Maneya Maaligi in 2013 and Annakodiyum Aindhu Pengalum Annakodiyum Ainthu Pengalum is a Tamil television >> Read More... in 2015. He was also featured on the committee for the South Indian Small Screen Producers Council. In Sinhalese, Ravi directed the Drama Thriller, Dharmayudhaya, which is the official Sinhalese-language remake of the Malayalam hit and critically acclaimed film, Drishyam. Cheyyar Ravi sadly passed away on 11th March 2017, during a shoot for a television serial, due to a cardiac arrest, at 54.
