T.S. Vinayagam

T. S. Vinayagam is an Indian cinematographer. This veteran cinematographer predominantly worked in the Tamil film industry, particularly in the 80s. He had worked with famous actors like Rajnikanth, Kamal Hassan, Dharmendra and many more. Vinayagam started as an assistant cinematographer with the renowned cinematographer Viswanathan. In his initial career, he worked as an assistant camera and camera operator in many films. The films are C. V. Sridhar’s Saathi (1968), V. Madhusudan Rao’s Devi (1970), Adurthi Subba Rao’s Rakhwala (1971), and K. S. Sethumadhavan’s Julie (1975). He first worked as a cinematographer in Vanakathukuria Kathaliye (1978), starring Sridevi, Rajinikanth, and Vijayakumar. He then worked in M. Bhaskar’s Thandikkappatta Nyayangal (1983). Vinayagam mostly worked with renowned director S.P. Muthuraman, throughout his whole career.

He had made over 15 films with the director. He was the cinematographer in the film Sri Raghavendra (1985), starring Rajinikanth, Lakshmi, and Vishnuvardhan. This film is the 100th film of Rajinikanth. His next film was Jappanil Kalyanaraman (1985). The film featured Kamal Hassan, Radha, and Sathyaraj. He was the director of cinematography in the Tamil film Mr. Bharath (1986). The film featured Ambika, Goundamani, Raguvaran and more. He was the cinematographer of the film Nallavan (1988).
