Choreography Is Not Just Dancing
Choreography is not just dancing. It is the art of expressing your emotions without speaking.
Choreographers are professional dancers who design the set of movements to be executed to express physically in the foreground, what is being narrated by the music in the background. They instruct the actors what steps to perform in a dance routine in a movie.
They know how to make even the most ordinary bodily movements seem elegant and have a good sense of how to groove in sync to the rhythm of the music. Sometimes they even come up with such inventive moves that you can see people imitating them everywhere, from marriages to parties, e.g. the infamous Nagin Dance. Besides instructing actors, many choreographers run their own dance academies where they teach.
They might also appear on TV, alongside other celebrities in dancing competitions either as judges or as participants themselves (as in Jhalak Dikhla Jaa).
