Radha Thomas has served as the executive vice president of the Indian media publishing company Explocity Private Limited, since 1999. She is the founder and bandleader of the jazz fusion group UNK: The Radha Thomas Ensemble, as well as an author and singer. She was born on June 19 in Tamil Nadu, India. She attended St. Joseph's and Lady Shree Ram College in Panchgani, India. Thomas studied Indian classical music with two Hindustani vocalists: Ustad Zia Fariduddin Dagar in the Dhrupad singing style and Kumar Gandharva in New Delhi. She incorporates Indian elements into her jazz singing. She started as a vocalist for the rock group Human Bondage.
She was chosen to represent India at a jazz singers’ festival in Warsaw, Poland, in 1976. She relocated to New York and stayed there for 20 years. She gave performances at The Bottom Line and Sweet Basil Jazz Club. She started her band in 2009 after moving back to India in 1993 and performing with Louis Banks, Sanjay Divecha, Gerard Machado, and Keith Peters. Radha Thomas created and completed 52 jazz videos between June 2020 and June 2021, which is remarkably the equivalent of one video every week for an entire year. Aman Mahajan, who plays piano and keyboards for the band, draws inspiration from jazz, bebop, hip hop, blues, Indian classical music, rock & roll, and other contemporary genres to create their distinctive sound.
I Only Have Eyes For You, their self-produced debut album, was released in September 2012 and contains both original songs and reworked jazz standards. She has authored "Between the Sexes," a column for the Bangalore Monthly, in addition to penning the lyrics for all of the original music she plays. Her writing is typically funny. Her debut book, Men on My Mind, was published. The book was included in a user review campaign by Blog Adda, was reported about by numerous bloggers and newspapers, and was listed by Rediff as one of the top five romance novels by debut authors. Moreover, she handled Explocity's editorial staff. The Hindu, Man's World, Explocity.com, Bangalore Mirror, Asian Age, and Bangalore Monthly have all published her writing.
